Rōnin Reporter: Week of 3/31-4/07

Updated: Apr 17, 2019

We used our Spring Break productively, meeting at Code Orange’s facility almost daily. We were able to get a lot of cargo testing in and troubleshoot issues with our intake. At the same time, we began drafting for our climbing mechanism. We did lots of research on effective ways to climb to hab levels 3 and 2, and were interested in a z-climb. Eventually, we decided to use a combination of our arm to lift us up initially then use a climbing mechanism on the underside of the robot to propel ourselves onto the platform.

When testing, we used excessive amounts of force and ended up breaking a lot of our robot, highlighting structural insecurities with the intake and drive base that we went straight to fixing. We ordered parts and plan to have the climb and intake completed next week as we continue to test cycles.
